The condition of the global, regional and local biotic environment
Understanding our environment is essential for every human being.
Nowadays, the biotic environment in which human society develops its activity is highly affected and threatened by excessive industrial pollution and unbalanced consumption.
Numerous surveys prove the high level of pollution of our environment and consequently the regional and local biotic environment are influenced in a negative way.
In general, the more developed countries are the huge producers of industrial wastes and pollution but also huge consumers of energy and natural resources.
Even in Romania , the last years have witnessed dramatic weather changes, from excessively hot weather and long periods of dryness to heavy rains and massive floods, from snowy winters to dry and cold winters.
For example, according to a survey made by Global Footprint Network, the natural resources available for 2008 are completely finished. On 23rd of September, mankind consumed all natural resources that nature produced for 2008.
At the global level, we need the biological capacity of a whole planet and a half according to Global Footprint Network. Every year, this organization calculates the needs of humanity related to natural resources and compares them to the biological capacity of our planet to offer them.
From this moment till the end of the year, we’ll use the ecological supply borrowing resources of the future, declared DR.Mathis Wackernagel, the manager of Global Footprint Network.
A group of researchers are worried about the sun light, warning us of global darkness. In China , for example , the sky of the capital is almost always covered with thick clouds, smog and fog, therefore , global darkness can become a more serious problem than global warming. Gery Stanhill is the biologist who has discovered that light intensity has gone down with 22% in Israel in the last 20 years, 10% in USA, 30% in Russia, and 1-2% at the global level.
At the European level biodiversity is seriously menaced. It is estimated that the extinction rate of species is 10 000 times bigger than the natural process of regeneration and re-growth.
All regions of our planet can be negatively influenced by the chaos that different changes of the environment have produced. The more the global temperature rises, the bigger the number of storms .It is likely that many dry areas could turn into larger dry regions because of the prolonged drought. In our country, the survey shows such a phenomenon in Dobrogea. Fertile lands can become dry areas or deserts as an immediate result of frequent drought caused by the climatic changes because of the industrial pollution.
The main cause of weather changes is the hole in the ozone layer and the greenhouse effect. The more the human being irrationally consumes, the higher the industrial production, the higher the level of pollution. It gives the environment little chance of regeneration, of functioning at a normal pace. This kind of disequilibrium directly influences human society in general, and the human being in particular. The natural cycle of the environment, of the Earth has become so dynamic that it is almost impossible to forecast the weather in a certain region.. Life of society, of nations, of companies and of every human being has become unpredictable, unstable, no matter the environment.
Within this context, major actions have developed such as: social responsibility, green energy, permanent development.
