What is social responsibility?
We usually hear people talking about social responsibility. There are things we see on TV or read in newspapers about campaigns of social responsibility. It is an expression that is getting into people’s mentality and language day by day. We can say about social responsibility that this is already an expression to represent a trend as a necessity of maximum priority.
Within the actual global context, in which humanity is confronted with financial crisis, pollution and global warming, social responsibility of organizations has become a primordial necessity. If we do not understand what social responsibility is, we will not understand its advantages and we will not be able to invest in any organization, in humanity in general. Therefore, the employees or the managers will not be able to get involved correctly in actions or campaigns of social responsibility.
Social responsibility as an expression appeared after the Second World War and it refers to the duty that all organizations have towards all entities (employees, other companies, nations, local, global environment) involved in developing their economic activities.
The term ”duty” refers to the fact that organizations have to act in agreement with the obligations they have towards the involved parties, observing moral rules, norms and principles of these domains: green energy, durable development, human rights, biotic and social security.
The abbreviation they use -CSR stands for Corporate Social Responsibility also known as corporate responsibility, corporate citizenship, responsible business, sustainable responsible (SRB), or corporate social performance. Specialists point out to a clear cut distinction between social responsibility of the organizations and the responsible action from the social point of view .On the one hand, social responsibility of organizations is an expression that reflects the contribution of companies to the sustainable social development. On the other hand, the responsible action from the social point of view refers to a singular point in the strategy of an organization in relation to the parties involved, without a special commitment towards these or the existing social values.
